Beverly Hills – glittering treasures to discover

  • Rodeo Dr Shopping

Since the Spanish explorers of the mid-1700’s, millions of people have flocked to Beverly Hills seeking treasure – whether that was the water resources back then or a Gucci handbag now. Just as a jewel has many facets to marvel in, so does Beverly Hills. It is world-renowned as the center of Los Angeles’ sophistication, celebrity lifestyle and glamour.

Whether you enjoy haute couture shopping, history, fine dining or art, Beverly Hills has plenty to do. Although there are many things to catch your attention, the ultimate in Beverly Hills is stargazing. As the home of the film industry’s agencies, it’s an everyday occurrence to see a power lunch between a film agent and say, Robert DeNiro or Scarlett Johansson, at one of the outdoor patio dining options in Beverly Hills.

Other popular places to spot celebrities are the luxury shopping areas: Rodeo Drive, Beverly Drive, and the high-end department stores of Neiman Marcus, Barneys New York and Sax Fifth Avenue on Wilshire Boulevard.

Speaking of shopping, Beverly Hills is a fashionistas dream come true - from one-of-kind local boutiques where you can find specialty products like the Beverly Hills Cheese Store or luxury retailers like Gucci, Hermes, Valentino, Dior and Cartier. A shopping trip to Beverly Hills is not complete with a stop at the sparkling Two Rodeo Drive. Stroll up the narrow cobblestone walkways to do some substantial retail therapy at Tiffany, Lanvin and Jimmy Choo among others. To complete the Rodeo Drive experience, have your picture taken under the golden Rodeo Drive street sign.

Finding a place to stay in Beverly Hills may be a bit of a challenge. Not for lack of, just the opposite.   In the 5.7 square miles of Beverly Hills, there is a concentration of wonderful hotels from boutique to five-star to choose from. If you enjoy the iconic, historical Beverly Hills accommodations, stay at the rosy pink Beverly Hills Hotel opened in 1912. Maybe modern boutique hotels are more your style – check out Maison 140 nestled on a tranquil side street off Santa Monica Boulevard. If you enjoy living it up like a celebrity, stay in the Beverly Hills Hilton - the Golden Globe Awards are held here every year.

Just as there are many award-winning hotels in Beverly Hills, there are as many renowned restaurants, cafes and bakeries to have a meal or a snack  - everything from cupcakes to caviar. If you’re still in search of spotting your favorite actor or musician, Mr. Chow, Bouchon, Spago or Scarpetta are all favorite dining destinations for Hollywood’s jetsetters in Beverly Hills.

Driving through Beverly Hills’ neighborhoods is also a favorite among visitors. If you want to see the Beverly Hills residential opulence, take a celebrity star home tour or visit the Greystone Mansion that has been featured in countless movies and is open to the public to tour.

Beverly Hills is certainly the most glittering example of celebrity culture and sophistication. A must see on your next visit to Los Angeles.
