Dine in Lake Tahoe where the views are as exquisite as the food

Dining in Lake Tahoe is almost as much about the views as it is about the variety of delectable food and wine. Whether it’s at the top of a casino tower or down at the water’s edge, many Lake Tahoe restaurants take advantage of the awe-inspiring vistas of the lake and mountains with large picture windows and outdoor patios. Tahoe’s international culinary smorgasbord includes four-star restaurants, European-inspired bistros, one-of-a-kind fresh delis with organic fare and pizzerias. Ethnic varieties include Irish, Thai, Italian, Japanese, French, Mexican, Swiss and California cuisine, and there are also plenty of steak and seafood offerings.

Here are a few visitor favorites in fine dining:

Evan's American Gourmet Café is acclaimed as Lake Tahoe’s finest restaurant, with the highest Zagat rating in Northern California, east of the Bay Area. It features a blend of cuisine styles from around the world and has a strong wine list. At Gi Fu Loh guests can select from a variety of live seafood such as crab, clams, lobster and fish flipping fresh from tank to plate. Ciera Steak & Chophouse inside MontBleu is an AAA Four Diamond Award winning restaurant. The stylish atmosphere includes semi-private, curtained booths. 19 Kitchen Bar inside Harveys Casino, Lake Tahoe provides spectacular views of the lake. The eclectic menu offers a variety of steak, lamb, lobster and other seafood. Surf’n’turf is a popular choice that gives diners significant portions of broiled filet, short ribs, seared diver scallop and Australian lobster. Mirabelle provides excellent French cuisine, with unique daily specials, such as Roasted Boneless Pheasant Breast, Grilled Ostrich Fan Filet and Sautéed Large Prawns and Roasted Peppered Venison. Cafe Fiore Italian Restaurant is a wine lovers dream, with more than 330 varieties available.

Some of the best restaurants for views include: Lone Eagle Grille in Incline Village; Jake’s on the Lake in Tahoe City; Six Peaks Grille, Graham’s and PlumpJack Cafe in Squaw Valley; Riva Grill at Ski Run Marina; Edgewood Restaurant in Stateline; Fresh Ketch at Tahoe Keys Marina; and Freshies in South Lake Tahoe.

These just scratch the surface. Lake Tahoe has plenty of other casual diners and quaint hideaways to suite any taste and budget.
