The Old Town of Lucerne, which is almost completely pedestrian only, is great for shopping. A great variety of fashion boutiques can be found here. Furthermore, there are several department stores as well as high-end jewellery dealers in Lucerne’s historic city centre. Whether you look for something typically Swiss, fashion, chocolate or jewellery – it’s all within reach. Also other parts of town offer an interesting and diversified selection of shops. You’ll also find several department stores and attractive markets, such as the flea market, fish market or crafts market.

For those with a sweet tooth, the Confiseur Bachmann will seem like heaven. This chocolate company is among the leading confectioners in Switzerland. Their products are 100% handmade from only the best ingredients and guaranteed fresh at all times. Come here to have a real Swiss chocolate moment and try the pralines, truffles and macaroons.

Switzerland is well-known for luxury shopping. Whether it may be jewellery, fashion or watches; Swiss boutiques offer exclusive shopping experiences in an exclusive ambience. In Lucerne, the specialist store for watches and jewellery is “Gübelin”, a family-owned business that is run it its fifth generation. Standing for highest quality, Gübelin is absolute top-level in manufacturing jewellery and watches but also offers a wide range of other premium brand Swiss watches.

Starting in early spring, markets take place on a regular basis. Every week and located in different squares of Lucerne’s Old Town, they offer fresh and artisan products as well as handicrafts and vintage articles. Lucerne’s Flea Market for instance takes place every Saturday (May – November). Also on Saturdays, the crafts market located in the Weinmarkt square is an attractive shopping bustle to stroll and look around. The weekly market offering any fresh products from the region takes place twice a week and is located along the right bank of the Reuss river.

For souvenir shopping, we recommend “Casagrande” in Grendelstrasse. This is the leading souvenir store in town, offering anything that’s typically Swiss, such as cuckoo-clocks, wood carvings, beer steins, watches and chocolate.
