Besides beautiful palaces, parks and a breath-taking landscape, Potsdam also offers a multitude of options for shopping. We recommend a stroll around the baroque quarter of Potsdam or the centre of nearby Babelsberg for a relaxed shopping experience. This is where you will find a good mixture of coffeehouses, little boutiques and souvenir shops.

The Brandenburger Strasse - a broad pedestrian zone with old courtyards – is a popular and lively shopping street.  It is located in Potsdam’s city centre between Brandenburg Gate and the Church of St.Peter and Paul and leads into Park Sanssouci. Time will fly as you stroll through the many shops, modern arcades, restaurants, ice-cream parlors and coffeehouses. In the little side streets off Brandenburger Strasse you find owner-managed shops that offer items of more unusual and exclusive taste rather than off-the-rack clothing.

The nearby Dutch Quarter, much loved for its picturesque atmosphere is also packed with chic boutiques, galleries as well as pubs and bars. One top address for chocolate lovers and a perfect excuse for taking a break from shopping and walking around is “La Maison du Chocolat”. Located in one of the beautiful Dutch houses, this café-restaurant serves home-made chocolate, tarts and cakes. Also nearby is the jewellery atelier “ô”, that offers masterpieces of pure modern goldsmithing. Adjacent to the Dutch quarter, the Bassinplatz square is a traditional weekly market that is much frequented by the locals and sells regional food and specialties .
