The beautiful and accessible Oregon Coast

Stretching 363 miles (584 km) from the Columbia River in the north to the California state border in the south, the entire Oregon coast is open and accessible to the public, with over 80 state parks. With dramatic sea cliffs, wide sandy beaches, rolling dunes, and breathtaking rocky stacks sitting close to the shore, you’re sure to encounter striking vistas anywhere along the Oregon coast.

Quaint towns dot the shoreline where you can dine on freshly caught local seafood, visit lighthouses, or relive Louis and Clark’s epic westward journey by visiting Fort Clatsop and waking the Fort-to-Sea Trail.

For outdoor enthusiasts, there are opportunities for camping, boating, hiking and fishing, but for the more relaxed visitor the coast offers opportunities to experience local history, visit small galleries and museums, or simply stroll along the beach and listen to the waves crashing in as you watch the sun setting on the ocean horizon.

Key attractions along the coast include the Sea Lion Caves – the world’s largest Sea Cave according to the Guinness Book of World Records – located about eleven miles north of Florence, where you can get an up close look at the wild steller sea lions. Also worth a visit is the Oregon Coast Aquarium, home to over 500 species of animals in both indoor and outdoor exhibits. You may remember that this was the former home of Keiko, the movie star orca.

For golfers, the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort is located along the sweeping, untapped shores of Oregon’s rugged coast. There are four distinctly different courses which blend into the natural surrounding environment.

The Salishan Spa & Golf Resort also offers 205 guest rooms with gas fireplaces, private balconies and luxury bedding.
