Even though St. Moritz is mostly known for its unbeatable charm during the winter, it is a great travel destination all year round. Just be aware, that this is not the place to look for high culture in the sense of art exhibition, concert halls and a diversity of museums. St. Moritz is all about the outdoor activities and spending relaxing time in the middle of a beautiful landscape.

All year round, walking and hiking through the valley landscape of the Upper Engadine with its Alpine panorama, clear blue lakes and picturesque towns, is a spectacular experience. There are hundreds of kilometres of hiking trails and routes for mountain biking. You can also go for a swim and experience pure nature at the bathing lake Lej Marsch, jog around the St. Moritz Lake or enjoy an impressive view over the lake region from the top of the Muottas Muragl mountain. During the summer, mountain biking, golf (5 courses with a total of 60 holes), tennis, squash and sailing are much beloved sports in St. Moritz. And in case you are not too tired from your sports program, some cultural activity such as a visit to the opera house, the opera festival (June/ July) or the different music events may be perfect to round off your stay.

St. Moritz is foremost known for being the best winter resort in Europe; if not in the world. Skiing, snowboarding, ice-skating, bob run, curling and horse racing on the frozen lake are only a few outdoor activities that’ll keep you busy and excited.

In addition to indulging in sport activities, St. Moritz also offers a few sights that are worth seeing. Among the most famous sights is without a doubt the Heidi hut; the location where the Heidi movie was shot. Also the Segantini Museum that features works by the painter Giovanni Segantini and the Leaning Tower, a St. Moritz landmark that dates back to the 12th century, are among the town’s most popular sights. A visit to the Olympic sites or to the Swiss National Park, Switzerland’s biggest nature reserve, are also recommended excursions during your stay in St. Moritz.
